John, Either one is correct as British Leyland made the last run of ashtrays in 1976 in a smooth finish instead of the textured finish so the cars towards the end of production had smooth finish, but early 76 cars had textured. There have been a few smooth finish NOS ones on eBay lately in fact in the past few weeks, might be one on right now...But either is correct to answer your question.
