Agreed.  But in those cases, the provision is pretty clear on the schematic.
In this case, there is no indication on the schematic of any such scheme.

Apparently in 1965, the "Triumph" radio from Bendix came in both flavors.
The 5BTR had no provisions for switching polarity, but the 5BTRP had a slide
switch.
