The red car with number 67 on it, shown below, looks very much like a car I
used to race against in the early 1980's in Midwest Division.? The car was
owned by John Holsonback from Wichita, Kansas at the time, and he had those
fiberglass fenders made.? To my knowledge, that was never a Group 44 car.? I
was building a TR-3 for SCCA racing at the same time (1983), and I had John
have a set of those fenders made up for my TR-3.? I raced the TR-3 at The
Runoffs in 1983, but could never get it to go as fast as my TR-4, so I sold the
TR-3 to Dirk Reimer, from Granbury, Texas (I think).? He crashed it pretty
seriously at The Runoffs a few years later.? Some old memories.

It looks like the same roll bar, in which case it will have the original SCCA
logbook number stamped into it.With that info, you may be able to get more info
from older members of that SCCA region.Good luck!

Speaking of old race cars, is anyone familiar with this one:Raced in the
Wichita Region in the 1980s...Now it looks like this:

Racing with VSCCA in the northeast.
I?d love to find out more of its history. John Holsenback was the person who
raced it back then. That?s pretty much all I know. He passed away in 2007 and
apparently the car/spares were sold to the person in Oklahoma City, from whom I
obtained it in 2010.
See you all in Pittsburgh!

PS: SAVE it!

Answers-1- Anything can be saved2- YES!3- That's the tough one to answer, with
no original parts remaining, it would pretty much be a "recreation".

And on another note, two more TR3s have just come into my life. Bill Emery has
passed his late father?s two cars on to me, thinking I might be a good
caretaker for them.
After talking to Bill and Bob Tullius, and reading through his dad?s
correspondence I am convinced one of the cars, (the very rough yellow one) is
the Group 44 car that Bob Tullius built for Donna Mae Mims to race in the 1965.
I have also found the original red paint and pink paint on the car.
So this brings up some interesting ethical and technical conversations? (also
lots to write about in Classic Motorsports). Can this car be saved? Should it
be saved? If you re-body some, or all of it, have you really saved it? While I
know, from correspondence that some of the Group 44 parts are on the red car,
much of the Group 44 stuff is long gone.?
