It could be the timing chain hitting the cover.  Later cars had a glob 
of dumdum on the cover to hide the sound.

If it is the chain it is loud enough that the tensioner is probably broken.

Beware inexpensive chains they don't last for very long.  I believe 
Reynolds were the original suppliers.
