Miles,

Yes, rain is a great equalizer.  Take a look at page 12 of July 1995 
"the wheel."  At the SPIR SCCA vintage enduro in May 1995 it started 
raining after about 30 minutes and continued till the end.  The big 
powerful 911's with their wide tires spent their time all crossed up 
while my tub just motored along.  The picture was taken shortly after 
the 911 came out of the pits behind me; but thats as close as he got.  
After that I was able to pull away.  Low power and skinny tires help a 
lot.

I did two days at the SCCA drivers school in the rain.  Like you said, 
no problem in an enclosed car.  Turn four is the biggest adventure - 
going downhill the tire wall comes up awful fast when you turn the 
wheel and nothing happens.

I didn't see you at the September CSRG event.  Did you get your car 
repaired after the hay bales at Steamboat?  Thanks for the great report 
on your trip to Steamboat.
