There are lots of theories why he doesn't let them run. He only grudgingly
let a few examples (one authentic Clark car, but some very questionable, and
cetainly NOT Lotus Cortinas, but converted GTs) in last year when Lotus was
the marque. One owner was told to their face, something to the effect of ,
"We really don't want you here, but we HAD to accept a few." The fact is
Steve doesn't like them, never did, won't accept them, none of his friend
have one. The standard response to why you were refused entry in an HMSA
event is, "We don't have a class for sedans." Then tell me why I see all
those Alfa GTVs out there??? He didn't even have the courtesy to tell some
of the applicants who sent in their money and applications that they weren't
accepted...me included, but I certainly wasn't the only one...

I sense a growing distaste among other vintage racers for Mr. Earle and his
events for a variety of reasons, not just his views on Lotus
Cortinas...That's why you won't find me in the paddock at Monterey in August
ever again, even as a spectator.

OK, I feel better now....
I needed that...
