I saw a Ferrari 250 TR on an open trailer at Sears Point last year. I
heard that somebody asked him how much the car was worth, and he
replied, "I don't know. I bought it for $5000 back in the 60's." !!!
Might have been Dave Love (runs #9). He bought the car out of the
tree that's the "target" at Laguna Seca's corkscrew in the early
60s; the story I know is that he broke a crank and bought a new
one from the factory in the late 60s or early 70s, and complained
that the $10,000 price was more than he paid for the car...
