Anyone have unused crew space for the Glen event?
Several in-laws wanting to visit and I understand no one can get into the
track before Sat. unless with a participant.

Isn't anybody going to jump in and tell us all about the great weekend at
Gratten? We're waiting.

Third engine of the season toast, after one session. Total track time year
to date is still well under one hour.

They put a 1998 Trans Am Mustang in my race group, thankfully after I broke
so I didn't have to go to Phil Cull and remind him that he'd promised me
that he wouldn't do that.

Weather was great, track was great, drive home was great, watched Paul
Tracy win on sunday.

The Grattan weekend was great, as usual. Excellent turn out although
only 6 Canadians. Racing was good with very few incidents and the
weather was absolutely perfect. In Group 8 with me and some 38 others,
Dave Morgan did very well proving again that a good Mini can almost beat
a good Alfa but in the end it was an Alfa benefit, as it should have
been. We missed Gord on the "Canadian Island" which was wet enough this
year that the ground moved for the least provocation and made jacking
rather difficult. Fewer cigarette buts though.

Looking forward to Watkins Glen. New tires orderd today and only a few
little things to do on the GTA before then. After Grattan last year we
had two GTA's each of which needed engine replacements before the Glen
so I can sympathize with Brian.

Hope to meet a few more VARAC members at the Glen. For those of you who
haven't raced there don't pass up the drive around the old circuit. It
is a lot of fun. Reminiscent of the Mille Miligia, not that I have first
hand experience of the latter but I can imagine.

Caio,

Bruce Wilkie

We also had an excellent weekend on " the island ". Good food, live
band, lots of track time and good company. Where else can you relax in
a lawn chair watch the races and cast for Bass at the same time.
Doug Elcomb also had a good race in the Dreossi, leading a large
group of V's and Junior's to the finish.
A note to Bruce - the statement " a good Alfa ", that's an oxymoron
in my books.

  Regards Dave
