I restore antique clocks.
Go back a couple of hundred years and you find little standardisation in 
thread pitch and even sizes - all the screws and nuts were hand made - which 
means that it they are worn or broken, you need to replace complete fasteners 
or take the time to make a suitable replacement screw, for instance, to match 
the nut. Time consuming but interesting. You will recognise the screws as the 
ones that have 'V' shaped cuts in them instead of square bottomed slots.

And you thought having just British and metric was a pain!
