You should check out the latest "Grassroots Motorsports" for the "Vintage
Tire Test" :) Highly informative, even if I DO say so myself...
The Hoosier Radials are not allowed in HSR and SVRA, AFAIK. As you go
quicker, it is quite possible to use a set up in a weekend at an abrasive
track like Savannah so no great loss dismissing those!
The Toyos are most durable, the Yokohamas are the best dry/wet dual-purpose
tire and the Kumhos are the quickest but wear at a greater rate than the
other two. You are not giving up anything, IMHO, by picking a 175/60-13 over
a 185/60-13. Check the rolling diameter of each tire to see how it would
affect the gearing of your car.
You could buy the Toyo or the Kumho in full tread depth and have a pretty
good wet tire, sacrificing only a little dry performance. Try and patronize
the supporters of vintage racing (tire dealers) in your area such as Ernie
Bello, Bob Woodman Tire and Sascosports. They'll often provide help with
beginning tire pressures, optimizing wear rates and set-up info in general
that could save you a lot of time.
The bottom line is that there is not much difference between the three
possibles in terms of lap times, the biggest difference is wet performance
and impact on your wallet...
