my thoughts are this:
MG midgets are impossible to exclude! the bugeye was the parent chassis of
the car and they are a very powerfull contingency in vintage racing.
speaking of that contingency i'd reccomend to contact mark palmer of the MG
vintage racer's group for his input on supplying names of their registry to
encourage their participation ! quite honestly over the years numerous MG's
and sprites have been swapping identities back and forth in the racing
circles. wrecked and reconstructed race cars that were built from bits and
pieces of sprites and midgets abound. the sucess of such a venture would
be determined by the amount of entrants. in order for a specific
sanctioning body to consider giving track time to any group there must be
sufficient numbers of entrants. i'm positive the SVRA would welcome such
an effort with proper lead time and planning at one or more of their events.
(or at least i think so?) with the available time there is a good chance
for the event organisers and various sanctioning bodies to be contacted and
asked their requirements or desires make this work.
ya know it could also be worked as an interesting tour of north american
tracks or historic venues throughout that year too? there are canadian
and west coast tracks i have never driven at that are on my "places to race"
some day list....*grin*.
