I woke up early Christmas morning and snuck out of the house before anyone
else was up... Loaded the Crossle 35 on the trailer and headed to the BIG
parking lot. It is right at the shore of the San Francisco bay. Exactly where
I'll keep to myself..Almost no one there at that time. Roll the car off the
trailer and fire it up. I was able to drive it for about 20-30 minutes with
out any one bothering me. And me not bothering anyone I guess.I recently got
this car and had never driven it. So now I know it runs well, shifts like a
dream and seems to have reasonable power. Nothing fell off, leaked or caught
fire. There were things I will have to investigate. Upon hard braking the left
front would lock up before the right. And a squeak-squeak developed in the
right front.I should be able to resolve these things before I take it to the
track next Sunday for the free test day at Thunderhill. fFree to SCCA
members.
This may becoming a tradition for me and "new' race cars. The very first time
I drove my Devin was Christmas morning in 1998.. Same spot. Pretty nice place
too.. Not to make all you snowed in mid westerners feel bad. But it was bright
and sunny and dry. It was chilly, but not cold enough to make a difference.
It's nice having a place to do a quick test before heading for the track..
Actually had me looking forward to Christmas morning.
Happy Holidays to everyone and Happy racing in 2005..
