I just received this obit from Pam at Victory Lane...

Steven
R. Prewitt Obituary

Steve Prewitt moved to San Diego in 1998 after spending two years
deciding on the best place to live. The
choice was made from the heart. He loved
the town, the weather, but most of all, the people. One of San
Diegos unique attributes is that it instills in
people a vacation mentality that supports overall happiness. Moving here
at age 55 it might have been
difficult to make new friends, but not in San
  Diego! He would
tell you that the richness of his new friendships were the biggest blessing
of
the move.

Steve was born on December 1, 1943 in Cedar
  Rapids, Iowa. His
parents Robert and Evelyn moved to Des Moines
where he attended Roosevelt
 High School. He attended Simpson
College for two years, and then
graduated in Business Administration from the University
of Missouri in Columbia.

Until his move to San Diego, Steve
was owner and CEO of The Prewitt Company, a food sales and marketing company
with the home office in Des Moines and satellite
offices in Omaha and the Quad Cities. In Des
Moines he also served on the board of directors for
First Interstate Bank, the Riverfront YMCA, and Planned Parenthood. In San
Diego,
he served on the board of the San Diego Air and Space Museum.

Steve knew any prior accomplishments were dwarfed by
comparison when in 2007 his skull base disease gave him the rare opportunity
to
help give birth to an entity that will help millions of people into the
future. With Steve
as the founding president, four other highly skilled people came together to
form the Steven Prewitt Skull Base
Disease Foundation. Recognizing the
dramatic need for an interdisciplinary information repository to advance the
education, treatment and cure of skull base diseases, these five professional
people committed to make this foundation their highest priority. It was with
this passion and sustaining
commitment that the foundation evolved and will continue to serve as the best
one stop shopping for patients and physicians alike. You are encouraged to
visit the foundations
website at www.spsbdf.org.

His passions fell into three
categories. First, were his true
friends. He drew no distinction between
a blood relative and these special friends.
He loved them equally. Of all his
life assets, these friends were the most important. He gave thanks everyday
that these special
people were put in his lifes path. Each
contributed greatly to the person he became.

Second, until he began to
experience health issues in 2004, athleticism was important his entire life
for
two reasons: 1). Stay in excellent condition.
2). Meet new friends through multiple sports at various gyms through the
years. His health began to decline when
he failed to realize the importance of the body/mind connection. If you are
reading this, he would want you to
learn the lesson of de-stressing your life.
Regular workouts with a reasonable diet are truly only half the battle.
Please understand that stress alone can kill
you and only too late did he learn the inner serenity of giving your worries
up
to a higher power. In 2004 as he battled
his first episode of Stage 4 cancer, he learned that lesson through the joy
of
finding the Pacific
 Beach United
 Methodist Church.

Third was his passion for
driving, collecting, or racing cars. He
did all three with great enthusiasm.
Yet, consistent with category #1, he would tell you that although we
love our cars, they dont love us back.
The true gift of the hobby is the opportunity to meet new, eclectic, and
interesting friends. The hobby again
spawned many of those friends for which he was deeply grateful.

His sister, Patricia Ann
Johnson, preceded him in 1969. He has
two nieces from his sister, Holly Johnson
from Denver and Cynthia Fischer from Hamilton, MT. As a father, his daughter
Kelsey Prewitt from San Diego has always been the love of his
life. His sweetheart, love, and constant
companion over the last six-years was Bobbi Bennett.

The family plans a private
memorial service including cremation with scattering of ashes. In lieu of
flowers, Steve
asks two things: 1). Donate generously to
the charity of your choice. 2). Take
your best friends to lunch regularly and tell them that you love them. If
they are out of town, call regularly and
do the same thing.
