Stan,

Thank you very much -- the Oberg sling looks like a great addition. I looked to see if there are different models of it, but in Moss they show the same one for all models. I see this one for less money, but don't know if it is the same model:

Any ideas if it is the same sling?

Thanks for the great photos, too..

best,

doug

I used a 2 ton crane and an Oberg tilt lift and had a helper to aid with steering the unit back into the engine bay but it went back in very smoothly. I recommend the step ladder to reach the tilt lift bar unless you are 6ft 6 inches tall or greater and the slippers make it an overall comfortable experience :-)

The crane provides both up and down and fwd/back mobility, I have no experience using a beam for this project but I know at least one person that has this setup who will probably chime in shortly.

Subject: [6pack] reinstalling TR6 engine and transmission

Hi guys,

I know this has to have been discussed previously, but I am interested in experiences reinstalling a TR6 engine and transmission as a unit as compared to individually. I removed them separately and used a floor engine hoist to remove the engine.

I don't know if I would have tried this with the floor hoist, but I now have a 10' high steel I-beam with a 2-ton trolley and chain hoist in my garage (along with the floor hoist).

It would seem to be easier to assemble the engine and transmission prior to installation, but maybe it is very hard steering the "long lump" home.

Any experiences/opinions/advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

best,

doug
