I had two different versions back in the 70s.  One was similar to yours
at the front but the back section also mounted to the trunk lid.  I
didn't like what they did to the paint.  I also had another pair that
mounted to the luggage rack.  The only problem there was the clearance
between the bottom of the forward mount and the trunk lid.
