I have been battling with the OD for the last few days.

Symptoms: Does not go into OD

Items checked so far: Solenoid works well when the engine is not running.
Works with a need to assist by hand when the car is jacked up, engine
running and in top gear.

Oil pressure in transmission at 420 and
operating valve cleaned.

Lever aligned with hole and 3/16th dowel
enters perfectly.

Manually pushing down on the alignment lever, puts it into OD.

Adjusting lever and compensating for wear, puts it into OD but will not
release out of OD.

Any thoughts anyone?
Robert,
You may want to take a look at pg. 17 @ The VTR website. The address is:
_http://vtr.org/maintain/TransRebuild/OverDriveA02.pdf_
(http://vtr.org/maintain/TransRebuild/OverDriveA02.pdf)
It describes how to adjust the operating valve. We have found that too
often the adjustment using the drill does not work. Try this method. It has
worked for Larry and I.
