[6pack] Under carpet treatment

 	The only reason I can see to remove them is to paint the car. I removed mine
so that there would be paint on all the sheet metal. The factory primed the
metal, then installed the sound damping material, assembled the body, and
painted it. So there was no paint under the asphalt and in the sheet metal
seams.
	It comes off very easily with a heat gun and a putty knife.

Subject: [6pack] Under carpet treatment

<snip>

Question I've got for someone who is experienced is concerning the original
thick tar or asphalt damping pieces that were originally used. They are on
the heel area of the parcel shelf and there are pieces just behind the seats
on the floor that are about 6x9 inches in size. These all seem to be very
well attached to the metal. Should these all be removed or left intact?
Removing would be tough.  Thanks
