If the goal is overdrive in other than 3rd and 4th gears, that's simple enough.

Re OD? ? I installed an A type from a wrecked 71 into my 73.? ? So I guess you would say its not "factory" or correct for my year, but it is a genuine Triumph TR series OD.I don't know that we get as hung up on these things as the Muscle car folks.? ?Cheers.

I have a few things for sale. Please let me know if interested.
I have?factory Triumph touch up paint bottle in Carmine Red. Obviously, you have not been able to buy these from a Triumph dealer for many years so not sure of the paint inside. Still sealed but I would only say these are good for car shows. I bought these new many years agoTR6 Master Brake cylinder with boosterUnipart oil filters

I have never restored a TR6 but there is one for sale locally.? Apparently
it comes "with the rare factory overdrive option".

It is a 1970 car, vin CC 55,000 (ish)

Is this likely to be an A-type or a J-type?? I know the difference to look
at the respective overdrives, but the car is lying in a yard, I probably
can't get under it, and the transmission tunnel looks from the photos to be
intact.

I'd like to know before making an offer for the car.? Any suggestions?

A 1970 would be an A type.

Probably an A type. You can?t know for sure if Ed has overdrive and second third and fourth gears. The J type has overdrive only in third and fourth cares.
