...and you want to add the drain petcock. A decent rad shop can do it in a half hour. I positioned mine on the left side, back face of the rad, in the most reachable place I could find making sure there was room for the petcock to turn. 

You'll be glad you did.

It can, you will need to change the thermostat elbow cover to a 74 or 
early cover and use a 74 top radiator hose.
