[6pack] Accelerator Pedal Bushings

Does anyone have a suggestion for inserting the 2 bushings that the accelerator pedal shaft passes through in the bulkhead under the battery ?  My old ones disintegrated with age and the shaft just rattles around in the hole.  Maybe I'm just pushing on it to hard !Doug 71 Damson
