Re: [Bmcu] 1962/1963 TR 4Might want to do a little research on how much ZDDP is still in either Castrol or Valvoline oil which is not much any more. There was a huge article on Triumph 6 pack about this not to long ago. You can get the ZDDP additive from Goodparts here<http://goodparts.com/shop/index.php?categoryID=23> or I think Moss now sells it.

  Gary,

Me too. I like the Castrol 20-50 for our old LBC's with ZDDP added.

I'm a great believer in Red Line MT-90 for gearbox and overdrive. The MT in the name designates manual transmission.

I use modern synthetic lube in my diff.

For engine oil I use Castrol 20W-50 with a dose of Red Line zinc substitute.

     What do others say?

     Cheers,

Last week I took my TR4 to Burt Bros. at Kimball's Junction for an oil change. While waiting I met the western rep for Valvoline. He's also a vintage car owner. He advised me against using current 85-90 weight grease for the differential-transmission because of the detergent in the newer greases and properties. Appreciate any suggestions. How about oil for engine-Still Castrol? Thanks, Ralph
