I put the idea out to help the people in need. I personally am not worried about being able to claim it as a charitable deduction. All I am thinking about is helping and I think that with John and Loretta being in the center of it, they probably know of a local organization that needs and can make best use of it. My opinion and experience has been local food banks and shelters would use a greater percentage of it than organizations that are large and have higher operating costs. I suggest that anybody concerned about being able to deduct their contribution do research it and send it to the organization of their choice. ----- Original Message ----- From: Paul J. Total devastation!!! Our friends mentioned that there is a lack of drinking water, though lacing it with bourbon does help kill the bacteria. I have attached two articles on how to use the sun to make drinking water. This method does not rely on expensive filters and in fact, I already gave it to one of my consulting clients whose ministry is in Haiti - last year's earthquake. I don't know how to add an attachment to the list serve which is why I have copied you and Stuart with the hope that one of you can get it to the Bricklin member in Christchurch. Again, thanks to all who contributed and any and all are still welcome to participate either by sending donations through PayPal or checks to Stuart. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Christchurch who have seen at least one third of their city destroyed by this latest round of quakes, not to mention the hundreds that are dead or still missing. I personally don't like the idea of removing it from the window channel, in the past I have mounted the channel adjusted the window, got everything working right, then trial mount the skin, I usually then have to cut off the bracket and move it so it is positioned properly then reweld it to the window channel. Lots more work that way. Next time I will probably just weld a new "brace" on the channel then remove and glue the cat whisker bracket to the skin On 3/22/2011 1:53:50 AM, Larry Ankeny (lvphotogroup at cox.net) wrote: > I am in the middle of redoing the doors and I thought I read somewhere > (but > I can't find the article again) that before gluing the skin to the door, you > should glue the mirror/cat whisker bracket to the door skin first. Larry, Yes, that was in one of the articles I wrote about redoing the doors, and I believe it's in John Lodge's artice about rebodying a car (just not sure if that part has been printed yet). The reasoning behind cutting the cat whisker bracket from the window frame, is that the door skin doesn't lay against it, as it was supposed to. So if you glue the door skin to it, and install the rear view mirror and clamp it down it will warp the door skin and you'll have a slight indention of the skin along that line. So by cutting the whisker bracket off the window frame, and gluing it to the back of the door skin, the skin get reinforced, the mirror can be pulled up tightly against the door and to the bar, and you don't warp the door skin. Rick does have another option, moving the whisker bracket out on the window frame by cutting and reweldking it. John John T. Blair WA4OHZ email: jblair1948 at cox.net Va. Will any Jeep 15 X 7 wheel match the bolt pattern and offset? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------- I don't know the answer to the above... but in case it helps: I had the same vibration problem. I looked at brand new wheels. I could not find the exact offset or backspace to match the original Bricklin wheels. What I did find is wheels in the right size (15 x 7) and the right bolt pattern (5 on 4.5" or 5 on 114.3 mm), close to the original specifications: Offset is 0 (original +1), and backspacing 4" (original 4.5"). There were various wheels available with those specifications, but for price and looks, I chose the MB Old School wheels, gun metal finish, part number #62583. I bought them at Discount tires. They fit very well, and the vibration is gone. Discount Tire is another chain that usually has the equipment for balancing lug centric wheels. It can make a huge difference. My wheels were out of balance for a long time before I learned about he difference between hub and lug centric wheels and found a place that could balance them correctly. It is puzzling why so many tire stores don't know the difference. Lug centric wheels are certainly less common, but Bricklins are far from the only cars that have them. I have a Toyota 4runner that also has lug centric wheels. Bricklin wheels are sometimes out of round so it isn't guaranteed that rebalancing will solve your problem, but it often can and is certainly worth a try. Thanks From diraxel at yahoo.com Thu Mar 31 12:58:18 2011 From: diraxel at yahoo.com (^_^) Date: Thu, 31 Mar 2011 12:58:18 -0700 (PDT) Subject: [Bricklin] Front End Alignment specs for 1975 Bricklin In-Reply-To: Message-ID: <657055.23194.qm@web63906.mail.re1.yahoo.com> Indeed, these values are found p 11-14 of the Service Manual. Terry Tanner suggested the following in a Brickline: camber: -1 degrees to 0 degrees desired -- 1/2 degrees Caster: +2 to +3 desired - + 2 1/2 degrees Toe-in: 1/8 Tire pressure: 25 front, 25 rear Note: these modified specifications are suggested to eliminate unnecessary tire wear and to improve roadability. Oversteer or understeer can be corrected by adding or subtracting air in front or rear tires, depending on driving requirements. Tire pressures are very important! >From the frenchie Diraxel ^_^ --- On Tue, 3/29/11, JLC wrote: > From: JLC > Subject: Re: [Bricklin] Front End Alignment specs for 1975 Bricklin > To: "'Ed Wenger'" , "'Bricklin List'" > Date: Tuesday, March 29, 2011, 7:29 AM > The specifications I have are: > > 0 degree camber > > 3 per cent castor > > 1/8 toe in > > JLC > #2121 > > -----Original Message----- > From: bricklin-bounces at autox.team.net > [mailto:bricklin-bounces at autox.team.net] > On Behalf Of Ed Wenger > Sent: Tuesday, March 29, 2011 6:43 AM > To: Bricklin List > Subject: [Bricklin] Front End Alignment specs for 1975 > Bricklin > > Getting my 75 aligned, but cannot put my finger on this > right off.
