This is not the fine gauge tension spring that pulls the latch to the lock position. The spring I'm talking about is external to the latch assembly, and mine is broken with part of it missing. Can you tell me what it is supposed to be for and whether there are specifications or replacements anywhere? Thank you, Alan Golbov -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... When the latch opens, that spring pops the hatch up enough to get your fingers under it to pull it up. I have never had to look for one, but I expect most of the Bricklin parts vendors have them. If that is the case it is to pop the rear hatch up a little when it is unlocked. Greg -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I'm attaching pics of the one I mean. It was attached to the big screw opposite the one that the large spring is attached with. As I look at this, it seems as though both ends of the spring have been cut with diagonal pliers - a nice, pointed cut, which would not be a factory spring. Maybe this is something a previous owner added, and it wouldn't be the first thing like that I've found on this car. I'd still be curious to know if anyone else has something like this on their hatch latch. Thanks!
