Engine trouble

I was hoping to prevail upon the more mechanically minded in the group for
some advice.
I've had my BJ8 garaged and neglected to start her up from time-to-time this
winter. The result? When I wanted to take advantage of the beautiful weather
last weekend and take her for a ride, she wouldn't start. She turns (the
battery's strong), but won't kick over. The problem seems to be that she's
not getting any fuel, and it occurred to me later that I wasn't hearing the
familiar tap-tap-tap of the fuel pump. I've read in a couple of places that
these buggers can periodically malfunction and the suggested remedy is to tap
against it lightly with a hammer or wrench. Can anyone verify this?
Also, so long as I have your attention, has anyone else seen this car:

Looks familiar, doesn't it?
Thanks again,
