Hi, folks, just an update on future calendar items.

After getting fresh information about the Greenwood show this year on June
23rd, I've decided to take it _off_ the CAHC calendar. They are attempting
to revamp the whole deal and I think they're trying to make it a smaller and
more "premium" show. How do you do that? Charge $60 per car entry fee. Ouch.
I don't think so. Should guarantee fewer cars, though!

I'm glad we got to enjoy this show as a club over the past three years, but
it's time to move on and do something else. Anyone with ideas for shows or
other events in June (not necessarily the weekend of the 23rd) that we could
join, please contact me directly.

Of course, as those attending club meetings know, the Columbia Gorge
MGA-club-sponsored rally is that Saturday the 23rd as well, and you get a
heck of a lot more for $75 at that event than you would at Greenwood! I've
added information and web links for this event to the CAHC site, check it
out!

Indeed you do get a great value at the June 23 rally,
Byron.  Thanks for the lead-in.  This event is truly
the Pacific Northwest's premier classic rally.  All
sports cars and sports sedans made before 1981 are
eligible, so anything with "Healey" as part of the
name is good!

This rally is also unique in offering three classes:
Standard, Novice, and Touring.  Even if you have no
clue about rallying, or just don't want to bother with
stop watches and timing-keeping, you can still enter
the Touring Class (with a follow-the-leader format so
that no one gets lost), and you'll be part of a great
event with so many different interesting cars, and so
many great people from all over Oregon and Washington.
 And this is not to mention the great roads you'll be
on, most of which I guarantee you have never seen
before.

The fee of just $75 includes:
Continental breakfast for two.
Lunch for two.
After-rally refreshments for two.
Souvenir shirts for both driver and co-driver.
Souvenir posters for both driver and co-driver.
Souvenir event programs for both driver and co-driver.
Dash plaque.

Early registration for the Greenwood show is $45. The registration info I  
got by e-mail indicated a push to raise more money for the community work of the 
 Chamber of Commerce. A $75 event where you get more sounds like a good 
thing.  What are the lodging costs and other incident expenses to get there and 
back?  Just some thoughts comparing a weekend event with a day outing.

Hello, all, Van Dusen is coming right up. Is there a group of Cascaders
headed up Friday morning or mid-day to get to the Albecorn for check-in and
the evening social? What time is the departure from Southcenter or Smokey
Point?

I know Jim Slostad is headed up at some point in the morning and is stopping
in White Rock on the way. Others who want to go with him should contact him.

I just want to put a time on the calendar for those who want company for a
straight shot up to Richmond. 10:00AM? Noon?

Please weigh in, those of you who want to travel together, thanks!

Unfortunately, Zoe will be out-of-town that weekend.
I'm still going to VanDusen, and have an empty seat.

My plan is to drive up Friday, leaving Olympia in the AM.
It is ~200 miles from Olympia, so I figure about 5 hours.
Meeting @ SouthCenter @ 10:00 AM would be good,
mid-day should miss some of the rush hour traffic.

What time works for a rendezvous @ Smokey Point?

hour drive, not five.  Leaving SouthCenter @ 10:00 AM
would get us to Richmond, BC too early in the afternoon,
about 1:00-ish.

That seems way too early, so what about leaving SouthCenter
@ 12:00 noon, getting us into Richmond about 3:00 PM, still
before the rush hour, and gives us some time to cross the border.

I figure the miles and times as follows:
    1. Leave SoutherCenter @ 12:00 noon
    2. Rendezvous at Smokey Point @ 1:00 PM, ~50 miles
        Leave Smokey Point @ 1:15 PM
    3. Canadian border @ 2:30 PM, ~70 miles
    4. Arrive Abercorn Inn in Richmond about 3:00 PM, ~25 miles

Is this a better schedule?

left side road or Hwy. 9 to Conway and stop to drop off Dies at  shop, then up 
Chuckanut drive to Bellingham with possible short stop at Rose  Gardens, 
Across the border (possibly at truck portal to get a jug of Bailey's)  then to 
White rock for walk on beach and or little shops then arrive Holiday Inn  across 
from Abercorn in time for shower and go to meet party.
 
Sat, afternoon after the Vandeusen Meet, to Mike's house at BC  college for 
Annual Canadian Club BBQ and Commrodery!YES, even you are  envited!
 
Sun AM start time to be decided by those that want to go  with.
North via Hwy. 99 to Squamish with stop at Copper mine and  then the RR 
Museum. 
Some need to leave early to drive to Ore. so we'll do the RR  second leaving 
all afternoon or what ever time  we want as it's quite  large. The drive home 
is planned for Mon. but could change by  concessus.

All,

I spoke with Zoe when I got home, and her Dad, Salty, passed
away this morning.  It was a good thing for Zoe, her sister and
her two brothers to be back in Indiana with her folks these last
few days.  She will be back in Olympia Thursday next week.

Subject: Headlight gaskets for Healey

I've identified the two headlight gaskets that I brought to the meeting
last night, in hopes of finding a good home for.  They are from Victoria
British (8-4262)and for a 4-6-3000 Healey, 53-68,  2-adjustor type
headlight gasket.  If anyone would like them they are $10 for the pair.

Subject: BN2 Timing

A friend asked me to help him correct his very rough running BN2 this last
Sunday. I don4nt have any experience with 100/4s but timing etc. are routine
for me on my BJ7 and Bugeye Sprite. After adjusting the valves I went by the
workshop manual and located TDC (not very easy with my 65 year old eyes with
glasses)by checking valves 7&8 as they both stopped moving. Then opened the
contact gap and that supposedly gave me 60BTDC. There are no timing marks on
this car and the book recommends further adjustment (dynamic?) by trial and
error with the vacuum advance unit (no stroboscobic timing adjustment
possible). After checking the carbs the car ran very nicely. However, I would
like to do this process more accurately. Any help, material to read?
