Fellow Cascaders,
I have a dilemma...
You see, I was tooling around town last night when I stopped for gas and
ran into a guy in a TR6. I was admiring his powder blue baby as he did my
Mistress. He was telling me how surprised he was to see a Healey on the
road and commented on how Healey owners only bring their cars out on Easter
Sunday to dust off and put back into the garage. I baulked and told him to
wait until Saturday when he would see a group of Healeys touring the East
side that would rival a Harley gang of bikers. I have to admit my feathers
were a little ruffled at the implication we all have trailer queens sitting
in our workshops. I suggested he join us. We shook hands, gave a thumbs up
as we parted ways leaving the pumps behind.
What's the dilemma you ask? I've only received one other member expressing
interest in a tour this weekend - hardly a group that would rival a gang of
bikers. I've spent the week planning and organizing so that everything is
in order including:
- Talking with Mother Nature. She's promised the best weather so far
this year for Saturday. She suggested we might just hit 70 with no chance
of rain.
- I've spoken to the State Police and they assure me everyone driving
on Saturday will stay on the right side of the road - including the
self-appointed, spreed regulating, tree-hugging Subaru and Volvo owners.
- The Brown Bag has been notified to have plenty of eggs, hash browns
and a requests for the biggest cinnamon roll french toast any of you have
ever seen.
- I've called the Snoqualmie train station and informed them that we
were bringing our Healeys to compliment their antique engines. They even
offered to remove the windows from their passenger cars so that we could
enjoy the sunshine that much more.
- The Snoqualmie Falls operators even offered to increase the flow of
water over the Falls just for you guys.
- I've got the mice running the treadmills extra hard right now to
align the planets in our solar system on Saturday.
If it helps, you can even wear your Easter Sunday Best on Saturday and I'll
greet you with a rousing, "*Happy Easter*" at Starbucks. So what do you
say, can you help us look good in front of the other British car owners on
Saturday?
Our starting point will be the Starbucks across from South Center Mall - the
usual meeting place. We will be departing at 8:30 AM and stop for breakfast
at The Brown Bag (about 9:15) - you can meet us here if you like. The Brown
Bag is located at the southeast intersection of I-405 and NE 116th Street
(exit 20A). My original email laid out the basic route. If you would
rather meet us somewhere else along the way that's fine too. The important
thing is you get out, enjoy the day, see your friends.
My cell phone number is 630.605-6062 in case your running late or wish to
meet up somewhere else along the way. No guarantee I'll hear the phone
ringing when I'm on the road so you might want to call early to make other
arrangements. I can assure you this Good Old Chicago Boy won't get you
lost.
Cheers,
Carlos Cruz
PS: Anyone with their top up is buying breakfast!

Fellow Cascaders,
I was working out in the garage this evening, just talking to my
Mistress. She's a 1960 3000 BN7 just itching to to do some
sightseeing. So I hoped on the internet to get the weather forecast
for Saturday, April 12. The good old weatherman is predicting a high
of 68, partly cloudy with just a slight chance of rain. Not bad for
this time of the year in Seattle - right?
So with that in mind, who's up for a drive?
First up, the Plains on the East side of the Cascades. We'll meet at
the usual meeting place at the Starbucks across from South Center Mall
at 8:30 AM. We'll head north on I-405 and stop for breakfast at The
Brown Bag (about 9:15) - you can meet us here if you like. The Brown
Bag is located at the southeast intersection of I-405 and NE 116th
Street (exit 20A). If you leave here hungry, there's something wrong.
After breakfast we'll continue north on I-405 then take 522 east
toward Monroe, WA. We'll hop on 2 east for a few miles to 203 south.
We'll drive 203 south through the Plains that skirt the East side of
the Cascades. We'll head east on 202 with a brief stop at
Snoqualmie Falls. Anyone want to go over the falls in a barrel?
We'll head up the road about a mile into downtown Snoqualmie and board
the vintage Train for a short ride (about 45 minutes) to North Bend.
Info at http://www.trainmuseum.org/Trains.asp#SpringFall.
We'll head back on the back roads running west, parallel to I-90 where
you can break off and head for home.
So what do you say, who's interested in breaking out the Automobiles?
"Those Aren't Pillows..."
Drop me a note and let me know you want to go. I'll send out an email
on Friday with the number of participants. Hope to see you on the road.
Cheers,
Carlos Cruz
