Scouting Trip

Good morning Cascaders,

I mentioned in my original email announcing the British Car Week Rally &
Tour that I could use some help. Well, here's your first opportunity to
help make this a memorable event...

I need to plan for a scouting trip in preparation for the British Car Week
Rally & Tour schedule for May 31 - June 1. What that means is I have a road
trip I need to take to make sure the roads are passable and not encumbered
by construction, snow, storm damage from last December, etc. On this
scouting trip I need to figure out re-fueling points, lunch and dinner
spots.

I hope to have two rallies going each day. The poker rally which is
mentioned in the flyer - *check out the club's website for *details*, *is
played during the breaks like lunch, re-fueling stops and at the museum. I
am still working out the details of the driving portion of the rally. This
will be part of my objective for the scouting trip as well. I could use
input from those of you who are considering joining us for this Rally &
Tour. *Being relatively new (again) to this club, what kind of rally do you
prefer?* There are:

   - *TSD Rallies* - or Time, Speed, Distance rallies - while it's my
favorite, I know it's not every one's bailiwick. This kind of event also
needs a lot more planning and volunteers than I think we can muster in a few
   weeks. Perhaps next year?
   - *Gimmick Rallies *- Fun scavenger hunt or seek & search formats. It
doesn't require a lot of driving skill, but may require a good set of eyes
and a witty sense of humor - especially if it's mine.
   - *Endurance Rallies* - Hot dog! Now we're talking about some real
fun. I've done a format in the past that doesn't require a lot of planning
or resources to execute - but it will test the skills and compatibility of
drivers and navigators. This could be a lot of fun.

If you're planning to join us, I would appreciate your input on the kind of
rally you prefer to participate in. Please drop me a note with your
thoughts.

So to sum it all up, I'm looking for a volunteer or two to go along on my
scouting trip. We'll check out some good places to eat and other places to
stop. We'll probably make a quick stop at the museum to check it out and
make sure it's worth our time. If not, I've got Pan B in the works. I'll
plan to make the the whole trip all in one day - about 475 - 500 miles. I'm
thinking about going on Sunday May 4th or the 10th or 11th - I'm flexible.
Send me an email if you're interested or feel free to call me at
425-391-5908 in the evenings.

Cheers,
Carlos Cruz
