Don't forget the annual get together with the Tyee Triumph Club scheduled
for Saturday, August 10th. Tour meets at 1:00 PM at the new Starbucks on
Meridian South and 132nd Street. From SR 167, take Exit 512 to South Hill,
go south onto Meridian past the South Hill Mall to 132nd Street, left at the
light to Starbucks. A $5.00 per person charge for food, bring you own drinks
and chairs. Tour will last about 1.5 hours.

The annual trail drive to the Ranch in Wenatchee Saturday August 23rd

OK you cowpunchers it is time to round up the herd and drive them over the
pass to the Ranch!

Ill be the trail boss of a herd going over the North Pass (Stevens).  We will
beat the bushes and look in the valleys and arroyos for any strays that we can
find and bunch the herd at the Monroe trail head for the big push over the
pass.

Carlos Cruz has said that he would be pushing a heard over the South pass
(Snoqualmie).

Any cowboys or cowgirls that want to be in on the North drive need to be at
the trail head (Buzz Inn) in Monroe at 8:30 am sharp with your saddles packed
and your horses watered and ready to ride.  If you want to hit the chuck wagon
at the Buzz Inn before the drive, give your self some extra time.

We will push the herd over the pass and stop for watering and to cool the
horses down at the rest stop before we get to Leavenworth.  The hard part will
be the drive through Leavenworth; some of the fillies may want to stray.  It
will be your job to keep them on the trail.  They will like to cut and run,
but we need to keep them moving if we are going to get to Wenatchee in time to
meet the chuck wagon.

When we get to Wenatchee we will bunch the herd at the corral and check our
accommodations have lunch at the chuck wagon of your choice and be ready to

Fellow Healey Friends,

The email below came across the Midwest Healey Club's email list and I
thought I'd pass it along in case someone in the Cascade club is interested
in owning a Healey that doesn't come up for sale very often.  It's an E-Type
Healey Silverstone.  I've seen this car in person and can tell you first
hand it's an amazing machine.  Sure do wish I had the extra money lying
around.

            A recently retired New York man wanted to use his retirement funds
wisely,
            decided to buy a home and a few acres in Portugal .

            The modest farmhouse had been vacant for 15 years; the owner and
wife
            both had died, and there were no heirs.

            The estate was being sold to pay back taxes.. There had been
several lookers,
            but the large barn had steel doors, and they had been welded shut.
No one
            wanted to go to the extra expense to see what was in the barn, and
it wasn't
            complimentary to the property anyway... so, no one made an offer

            place.

            The New York gentleman bought it as is, paying  just over half of

            So, he and his wife bought a generator and a couple of grinders...

With two seasoned trail bosses like that, I have complete confidence the drive

Each year, something different has greeted the arriving cowboy`s and cowgirls,
as they turn into the Ranch driveway, and this year is going to be special!
No , it won`t be the stack of artful tumbleweeds like last year, much bigger,
and more permanent!
So as you pull into the driveway, make sure you look at the area behind the
mail box, and tell me what you think!!

Ooooo Dawgie, it was might toasty this weekend.  The horse has been  
fed new oil and other essential fluids today and is about ready to  
make it over the pass and to the Ranch.  The southern posse of  
Desperadoes is growing.  The route has been planned and I've attached  
it for your reference.

The trailhead starts at the XXX Drive-in in Issaquah, near Front  
Street and I-90.  We will leave the trailhead promptly at 8:30 AM -  
better wake when the rooster crows.  Please be gassed, fed and ready  
to ride.  Those of you joining us in Issaquah, please note we will  
exit at Hwy 18 cross over onto the on ramp to pick up another Healey.   
Help remind me so I don't forget.

Anyone else wishing to join us along the planned route, drop me a note  
so we can make arrangements for a meeting location.

Sunday - the Return
For anyone interested, on Sunday after breakfast, I will be heading  
back on Hwy 2 and plan to stop in Leavenworth for a few hours to enjoy  
the towns shops, lunch and other activities.  Afterwards we'll head  
west over Stevens Pass in to Monroe.  From there I'll head down 203 /  
202 into Issaquah.

As part of the RUN TO THE RANCH, each year we have had a tour scheduled , to
show off some part of the Wenatchee Valley. Because of the possibility of the
hotter temps lately, we have adjusted this years to be shorter, a very nice
run to a monument overlooking the valley, with a photo opportunity, and back
to the air conditioned shop!
We are celebrating the golden anniversary of Neil and Lois Buhman that day
also, with a special dinner , cake , decorations and a surprise or two, and
since we are not doing a winery stop, some of you might want to tuck a bottle
of your favorite to help celebrate with the dinner toast!
We are looking forward to seeing each of you, travel safe!

Another fabulous Run to the Ranch!  Thank you so much Steve and Laurie
Day for hosting us! An added bonus this year was our celebration of Neil
and Lois Buhman's 50th wedding anniversary!!  The photos are on-line. 
There were a few people whose names I've forgotten (sorry!), so please
help me out by correcting my photo labels.

We took the north route home over Stevens Pass, with Dave Stetler, Dee
and Terry Brunner, and Mitzi and Bruce Goodrich.  Stops were made at
Smallwood's Fruit Stand and the rest stop (of course!), before leaving
Highway 2 in Sultan and taking Ben Howard Rd to Hwy 203, then over to
High Bridge Rd and a stop at Dee and Terry's.  When the first two
raindrops hit an hour later, we scurried to be back on the road, leaving
Dave to go north, while Goodrich's followed us to Hwy 522 via
Woodinville-Duvall Rd.  As we crested the last hill in Woodinville, we
drove right into the rain cloud...got only slightly damp in our last 4
miles home.  

Jim and Arlene Slostad stopped by later on their way home from his 50th
high school reunion in Mt Vernon.  Lucky for them we had cookies left!

Hope to see everyone "on the road" again soon!

Fellow Cascaders,

The Southern Group had a great Run to the Ranch as well.  We had a great
bunch of cars gather at the XXX Drive-In in Issaquah.  Seven cars (6 Healeys
and one BJ9) headed east stopping briefly at WA-18 to pick up two more
Healeys.  We made it up and over Snoqualmie Pass in no time and into Cle
Elum so we could all fill one tank and empty another.  From there it was up
and over Blewitt Pass to WA-2 then into Wenachee where we hooked up with the
Northern group.

Thanks to Steve and Laurie for opening their shop, the warm hospitality and
the opportunity to make new friends.  The turn out was so great, I know I
didn't get to meet many of you.  I look forward to doing so in the near
future.

No longer a tour leader, our ride home was a nice leisurely tour with a stop
at Leavenworth where the car was a big hit with the shoppers.  We also
stopped at Deception Falls off of Hwy 2 where these two really hard-core
Harley bikers came over to admire the car.  I guess it's true, great rides
unite us all.  The first few rain drops began to fall after visiting the
falls.  Anna and I had the top up in record time - not bad given her first
time in the car.  I think it's safe to say the weekend proved to be a great
Healey adventure for all.  No one called while driving home so I can only
assume everyone made it home safely.

school diploma to fix one, a reassurance to those of us who fly routinely in
our jobs.

      After every flight, UPS pilots fill out a form, called a 'gripe sheet,'
which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The mechanics correct
the problems, document their repairs on the form, and then pilots review the
gripe sheets before the next flight.

      Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humor. Here are
some actual maintenance complaints submitted by UPS ' pilots (marked with a P)
and the solutions recorded (marked with an S) by maintenance engineers.

      By the way, UPS is the only major airline that has never, ever, had an
accident.

      P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.
      S: Almost replaced left inside main tire.

      P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough.

Subject: September 5th run to Winthrop

Beckie and i are planning a run to Winthrop Friday, the the 5th if any one
would like to join us.  The weather is supposed to be much better, maybe 80
here.  If it does not get better, then we will most likey go to a local pub
instead. The plan is laid out below.  I will send out a last minute go or no
go Wednesday evening.
 
Leaving North Kirkland at 9:00 AM Friday, the 5th of September.
(Meet us at the Park and Ride Lot at 8:30 to 8:45.  It is the P/R at exit 22
on the 405.)
Traveling East across Hiway 522 to Hiway 9 in Woodinville.
North on Hiway 9 to Arlington.
Turning East on Hiway 530 at Arlington, through Darington and continuing North
on 530 to Rockport.
Again turning East on Hiway 20 at Rockport, toward Winthrop.
We will stop at Newhalem for lunch or maybe to buy picnic stuff and go on to
Washington
Pass in the North Cascades. 
After replenishing our stomachs, we will continue down 20 to Winthrop.
 
Not sure how many are going so we will not be able to plan too much ahead, but
will make some inquiries about group rates at a few of the B/B's and motels
and hotels before we leave.
 
Stay and party at Winthrop Friday night.
 
Leaving Winthrop Saturday morning at 9ish, we will travel South on 20 to South
side of Twisp, turning onto the 153 South to Pateros.
At Pateros, we will turn right onto 97 to Chelan. 
At Chelan we will get on the ALT97 on the West side of the River and go to
Wenatchee.
In Wenatchee, we will turn West on 2 and head to Leavenworth.
Lunch in Leavenworth before heading up over Stevens and home to the P/R in
Kirkland.
 
Drop us an e-mail, telephone us or just show up before 9 Friday to join us.  I
am sure that this will be a very fun trip.  This is the planned route, but as
usual, we will most likely get detoured here and there.  Also, i would like to
remind our Oregon and BC neighbors they are welcome to join us.  (Please call
or e-mail me with where you might join up with us.)
