The run to Winthrop is a GO.  Leaving from the Brickyard Park and Ride
(Exit 22, NE 160th St, from I-405) at 9 AM as detailed in original plan. 
You need to book your own room for Friday night.  Lots of places, but
Winthrop is popular so do it now!  I'd stay away from The Virginian,
however!  Old and run down...the reviews make my skin crawl!

Hi Fellow Cascaders,

I hope you're all doing well.  It looks like it's going to be a fantastic
weekend weather wise.  I'm considering a leisurely tour of Whidbey Island
for Saturday or Sunday this weekend and thought I'd toss it out there in
case anyone is interested in meandering and exploring for a day.  I'm
thinking an early ferry crossing probably 8:30 AM on the Clinton-Mukilteo
run to Whidbey Island.  We'll make our way up to Coupeville and stop off at
the Coupeville Coffeehouse for breakfast.  Come learn why the locals gather
at the coffeehouse to watch sea gulls and chew on topics such as "*if you
had to choose between sex and chocolate, which would you pick*"?  Don't ask
me - it was in the Seattle Times.

We'll spend the day walking the waterfront, the shops, the Admiralty Head
Lighthouse and possibly the Lavender Wind Farm.  Heck we might even bump
into Rosie - the 33-foot gray whale.  We may even sample the Penn Cove
mussels at the Oystercatcher, Mad Crab (*sounds like my ex-wife's joint*) or
Toby's Tavern for a late lunch or early dinner.  Afterwards we'll head over
Deception Pass then back home.

There's no set agenda, or timetable so there should be plenty of time to
take in all of the antique shops, pubs and other local sites.  Drop me a
note if you're interested in going *and let me know if you prefer Saturday
or Sunday*.  I'm trying to decide if I should take the Healey or not.  It
will be an easier decision if there's interest from you guys.  Please let me
know.

hiway 9 route from Woodinville much more than I5.  Especially on a work day
morning.  We plan to leave the Park and ride lot on 405 exit 22 at 10:00.  We
could pick up our North and Western friends in Arlington, or we could swing
over to Smokey point Rest area.   Let us know your preference.  Going North on
SR 9, we may take an alternate route at Deming away from SR9, though
Kendall and cross the border at Lindell, about 8 miles East of Sumas.  Fun
roads up there, and bypasses hiway 1 in Canada.  Into Harrison late
afternoon.  Route subject to last minute changes of course.  Please let us
know if you can if you plan to come with us.
 
If the Southern group wants to meet at South Center and then come up to exit
22 on 405 to hook up with us that would be great.  Someone will need to take
the lead from South Center.  I would suggest leaving South Center about 9 to
9:30.
 
Anyone planning to go up 5 all the way and then across, the freeway is under
construction from Ferndale North to Blaine and down to one lane.

Here's what I have regarding departures for next week's NW Meet. If there
are corrections or other departure plans, please let me know and I'll get
the word out!

Option #1 - Thursday 9/18

Phil & Beckie Daniels are leading a group north from the Park & Ride lot off
I405 Exit 22 at 10:00 AM. The group will stop at Smokey Point and depart
again at 11:00 AM  going North on SR 9. Phil mentioned an alternate route at
Deming away from SR9, though Kendall and cross the border at Lindell, about
8 miles East of Sumas.  Fun roads up there, and bypasses HWY 1 in Canada.
Arrival into Harrison Hot Springs late afternoon.  Route subject to last
minute changes of course.  Please let Phil & Beckie know if you can if you

If there is Southern group leaving from South Center Thursday, please let
you plans be known so I can coordinate a connection at Exit 22 or Smokey

We are still leaving the exit 22 p/r on 405 at 10:00 as per our original plan
and going up 9.  We will take a few mile detour to smokey point to pick up Bob
and others at 11:00.  Then back over to 9 to continue North.  So, we will be
on 5 for about 3 miles.

I'm just finishing up a ground up restoration on a 1959 BN7, and am looking
for my next project.  Looking for...1st choice...BN7, 2nd choice...BT7, 3rd
choice BN6.  Rust in the usual places is OK.  Rust in unusual places can be
discussed.  Disassembled is OK.  Body damage can be discussed.  Needs to be
complete enough to restore, but have a spare tri-carb engine and a couple of
side shift transmissions in my shop.  Anybody got something out there?

I'm new to the list and I'm looking for a '58 to '62 Bugeye Sprite. I'm 
currently looking at several nicely restored cars, unfortunately the 
nearest one is in Las Vegas. This is going to be a birthday gift for my 
dad. My budget is about $15,000. He owned one in the 60's and has 
regretted selling it for 40 years. I'd like to get a fairly recently 
restored car or one that has been maintained very well from a good 
restoration. As original as possible is preferable.

If anyone knows of a car like this that's reasonably local (Washington, 
Oregon, Idaho) please let me know.

Cascaders:

Jim Slostad will lead the Mt. Baker Run culminating at Austin Pass this
Saturday, October 4th.

The tour will leave the South Center Starbucks at 7:30 AM (ish) stopping at
Smoky Point Rest Area off I-5 exit 206 between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM depending
on the actual South Center departure. Next stop is Nooksak Casino (5048 Mt.
Baker Hwy) in Deming. It's then off to Austin Pass and beautiful Artist's
Point!

Please let Jim know if you will be joining the tour at South Center, Smokey
Point or Deming so he can be sure to look for you before leaving! Bad
weather may necessitate a reschedule; something quite common with this

I would really like to make this tour.  It is the only one my black, 
original, unrestored BT7 goes on. (Just bought new tires to replace the old 
ones that had a lot of tread, but were cracking because of age).   I have 
missed most of the tours this summer because of my wife's health.

Hi Phil,

There are two very well known outfits who do a lot of Healey business.  They
know the gauges inside-out.  The include 1) Nisonger Instruments (
http://www.nisonger.com/ ) ask for Bob Castagnetta.  He should be able to
help you there.  If you want anything other than a rebuild done, you need to
be very specific with the details - otherwise they will rebuild your
gauge(s).

The other is MoMa's.  Get a hold of Margaret Lucas at Moma.  Try
(506)766-6661 or email at momanm at aol.com.  I understand her work to be
top notch and on par with Nisonger.

Both outfits have extensive experience with British cars, Smiths gauges to
be specific.  Both should be able to recalibrate if needed as well as
refinish the faces if you want to loose any patina.  I hope this helps.
