Subject: Harrowing Naval Aviation videos After some of this the captain had to question his order of flight ops under these conditions. It's always safety vs. training realism. I suppose you don't want to run into a combat situation where weather curtails essential operations due to lack of experienced/capable personnel. This is very unnerving, landing with deck pitching 30 feet, at night, low on fuel. Incredible. You will never forget viewing this. I have seen a lot of aviation emails but the two videos below are undoubtedly the best. Turn on your sound and go full screen. I guarantee this will definitely hold your attention. These videos show the difference between Naval Aviation and any other kind. The links below are two outstanding videos about F-18 carrier operations aboard the USS Nimitz during weather that causes a severely pitching deck, which you can see in the videos. It's more dangerous than most combat missions and the tension in the pilots and crew is very apparent. Watch Part 1 first for introduction and terminology. LANDING TERROR! So the plan is a picnic in a park. We will meet at Southcenter and leave at 10:30 AM. We will tour out May Valley to the Issaquah/Hobart road then through the small town of Black Diamond and on to Tonasket State Park. The park has great parking (no big trees to drop stuff on our cars and within view of the picnic tables). Please plan to attend whether your Healey is running or not. We want to celebrate opening day of Healey Season with as many club members as possible. Bring your own picnic and meet at Southcenter for a departure of 10:30 AM Saturday May 1st. I don't know what percentage of the club is signed up but feel like I may be one of the last. I still have 2 healeys, BN2 and a BT7. I spend a lot more time on the BN2 but it is about ready to roll so will begin to devote more time to the BT7. I haven't heard what happened to several of our key members but expect that will come in time. I live in Zillah which is about 18 M. S.E. of Yakima. The Tates are not that far and are wonderful help in some tight moments. We have our place on the market and may be coming back your way (N. of Seattle) if we get the place sold.
