Subject: Mark's Memo for February 25, 2010
Austin Healey Club of Oregon
Dear Club Member,
The following is my memo covering March, April, and May
activities. I have also included a reminder to get your Rendezvous
registration form in to Bill Bolton and to make your room reservation at the
Valley River Inn.

Activities
March 13, 2010 - British Auto Works has invited us to an open
house and technical session at 10580 NW 289th Place, North Plains. (corner of
289th and West Union Rd). For those unfamiliar with the British Auto Works
location the easiest route is to travel west on Sunset Highway 26 to Exit 59,
Jackson School road. It is approximately 9.5 miles west of the Highways
217/Sunset interchange. Proceed north on Jackson School Road to the first
left, NW West Union Road. Turn left and drive about a quarter mile to British
Auto Works. Phone 503-647-0435. The technical session subject will cover
rebuilding of S.U. HD8 Carburetors and will begin at Time: 11:00 AM. Lunch
will be at Cornelius Pass Road House and Imbrie Hall located at 4045 NW
Cornelius Pass Road (just south of Hwy. 26). Lunch will be at 1:00 p.m. with
club meeting to follow at about 1:30.
April 10, 2010 - We are planning this as an overnighter to
Astoria/Warrenton. We will be staying at the Shilo Inn in Warrenton, OR
(503-861-2181). The special rate for a king or queen room is $76.86. Be sure
to mention that you are with the Austin Healey club of Oregon when making your
reservation. We have a block of 15 rooms available that must be reserved by
March 10, 2010 in order to get this price. We will have a special tour of the
beautiful Victorian Warren House. It is a private house owned by a friend
of John and Judy Carter. We will also tour nearby Ft. Stevens also in
Warrenton. www.astoria-usa.com/fort-stevens-state-park.shtml. The meeting
time and place has not been decided. Stay tuned for that information.
May 8, 2010 - The May tour to Longview is a day trip to Bill and
Nancy Boylan`s house in the country out of Longview, WA. We will have a
bar-b-que weather permiting and if it`s raining we`ll come up with something
else. Their address is 549 Diebert Ave., Longview. WA. The Boylans phone is
360-425-7014 and email is wnboylan at msn.com If you are thinking about using a
GPS to guide you to the Boylan residence Bill said GPS will take you the long
way to get there. John Wilson will be leading the tour and will hand out
directions at the start. The tour meeting spot will be in the Hillsboro area
but has not yet been determin. Be sure to read my memo next month or check
the website for final details on this event. John is planning to run the route
before the event to make sure of the way.
Other Stuff
Rendezvous - Did you know that Rendezvous is only a little more
than 18 weeks away? Have you made your lodging reservation yet?? Have you
registered with your participation with the Rendezvous Registrar?? If the
answer to these questions is No, you really should git er done. At last
count there were 40 fully registered participants for the Rendezvous and I
believe the numbers from other clubs out weighs those from the AHCO. Since we
are the hosting club this is not good. Besides that you really dont want to
miss out on the fun.
When you register for the Rendezvous you will notice that there is
a form at the bottom of the page to use in placing your order for Rendezvous
Regalia. If you want shirts or hats with the cool Rendezvous 2010 logo on
them you should order the items when you register. The Regalia Directors are
planning to order the items in advance so that you can have your items during
the meet. Due to the expense of things Regalia is not planning to have a
volume of extra stock on hand. So, order it now.
One last Rendezvous matter is support to the Rendezvous Committee.
Please step forward and volunteer your time to help out with the event. The
chairman of the Committee, Charlie Frazer, is seriously looking for help on
nearly all facets of the event. Please give him a call and offer to help.
Charlie can be reached at 541-345-1694.
One Last Reminder - Dues are past due for several members. I did
a very quick count of the records I have and see that over three dozen members
are close to being removed from the active member list. We really don't want
to see this happen. Please send your dues to Dennis Saxon, Membership
director. Thank you.
