The tour to Mt St Helens didn't happen as the mountain was hiding in the
rain clouds. Phil and I didn't go on the sternwheeler ride, so someone

it to you.

Thank you so much to Connie and Dwight, and their committee, for a

volunteered to be there at 10 AM.

Nick also volunteered to be there at 8 AM on July 23 to place the signs.  We
are all asked to help with parking.

Rob Wescott and I attended the ABFM walk-thru on Saturday morning.  The
following are my notes from the event:
  1.. The organizer is the MG club.  Steve something or other will provide a
phone/contact list on the morning of the 23rd for our use.
  2.. Arrival time for those wishing to set up the Healey location is 7:15 am
to 8:00 am, while registered show cars to arrive starting at 8:00 am and be in
place hopefully no later than 10:00 am.  The MG club will provide a tent at
the north gate for our use, and set it up for us.  However if the club has a
tent they wish to bring for the club's use they are encouraged to do so.
There was an island on the westerly end of our area that would accommodate it.
(Does anyone have the club banner? There would be a place on the island to
hang it).
  3.. If anyone has the "ABFM STAFF" t-shirts from previous years bring them.
The organizers will only have a few "aprons" this year for the car park
jockeys to wear.
  4.. The various vehicle class signs will be available the day of, and be in
garbage cans (clean I hope) down near the ABFM booth at the west end of lot 6.
  5.. Our Healeys will be in the east end of lot 6 on the north and middle
portion.  As of Saturday there are 25 Healeys registered.  The area is big
enough to accommodate late sign ups.  We share the east end with the Classic
Minis whose count as of the Saturdays meeting, was about 15.  They will be on
the south side of the lot.
For Your Information:  The college is thinking of building a new building for
nurse training.  Its planned for the west end of lots 4,6, and 8.  This would
remove a large portion of the area currently used for the parking of show
cars, so the ABFM staff is considering other locations to hold the meet
possibly next year and beyond.  Nothing has been decided upon, but areas in
Shoreline, Tacoma, Seattle, and even Vancouver BC are being looked at.  Any
ideas, we should pass them on to Steve.

Thanks to those 7 cars who participated in the Mountains to Sound tour.
Mitzie and Gordy were pleased.  It was the most cars they have had on this
tour.

Upcoming events and tours:

The Western Washington ABFM is this Saturday.  We have been asked to have the
cars placed no later than 10 AM.  You can begin arriving at 8 AM.  Our club is
covering the north  gate.
Anyone wanting to meet Neil and me for coffee, we will be at the Eastgate
Tullys around 7 AM.

Sunday July 31st if the Orphan and Discontinued Car show at XXX in Issaquah.
Our club members, Bob and Lynn Ormsby are in charge.  Call them if you have

Saturday August 6th is our combined tour with the BC club.  We will leave the
SC/Westfield Mall Starbucks at 9 AM, leave Smokey Point Rest Area at 10 AM and
meet up with the BC club at the Farmhouse by 11 AM.  BRING A PICNIC

Saturday and Sunday, August 13th and 14th if the tour with the Oregon Club.  I
drove to Chehalis last weekend to make sure of our route and decide on a park
for the picnic.
We will leave SC/Westfield Mall Starbucks at 9 AM, tour through Yelm (702) and
Tenino (507) to Chehalis where we will take exit 77 west (highway 6).  About
one mile from I-5 on 6 west, we will turn left into Robert E. Lintott
Alexander Park for our rendezvous with the Oregon club and our picnic.

Saturday August 27 and 28th:  Please make your reservations for the overnight
in Yakima.  Bonnie and Steve Tate have organized this event for us so let's
support their efforts.
Bring either a salad or dessert for dinner at Tate's.
Comfort Suites 1-509-249-1900 $109.95 for a King bed or $119.95 for 2 queen
beds.

August is a fun month of tours and overnights.  Give me a call if you have

I attended a committee meeting of the Columbia River Concours (

learned that the Austin-Healey Class has only five entrants so far, and four
of them are for display only; no judging.  I believe that the trophies go
three deep, and since my 100M won the class last year, it goes into the
"Winners' Circle" this year and does not compete for class trophies.  Looks
like a great opportunity for someone to pick up a nice trophy real easy.

The Healey turnout was small last year in the inaugural event, and that's a
shame since it is in such a beautiful venue in Vancouver, Washington.

There is also the tour that goes the day before the concours judging, and
there are still slots available in that:
