Original Color

I contacted the British Motor Heritage Trust to obtain this information for
my car. I provided them with the chassis and engine number I was very
quickly provided with a certificate of authenticity that gave me all the
information about the car as originally produced.
The information on the certificate included: Car/Chassis number; Engine
number; Body number; Specification (in my case: LHD, North American Export);
Colour of exterior, trim and hood; Date built; Date dispatched; Destination;
Key number; Details of equipment (in my case: wire wheels, heater,
overdrive, laminated windscreen, Road Speed tyres.

If Philip contacts the Trust and provides the chassis and engine numbers he
should be able to obtain the information he seeks.

My father is owner of a 1959 Austin Healey 100-6 and has had it for about 35
years now.  I am also planning on buying it from him in the very near
future.
When I was a kid, I remember him having the car repainted due to small rust
spots, but during the process I think I remember hearing that apparently
there were different colors as the paint was being stripped off.  I am
wondering if the VIN from a 1959 would include the original color?  If so,
how could I locate the info related to the VIN?  Or, if I provide it to you,
can you help me with that?  I would appreciate any information you can help
