[Roadsters] Fuel pump confusion

There have been a number of threads discussing the fuel pump removal. When
Nissan designed the Roadster, the fuel pump could be removed with the engine
in place, but it was TIGHT. The early fuel pumps have thin flanges and were
prone to warping. A production change saw the flanges get more than twice as
thick which solved the warping problem. The studs changed in length to a
longer stud so that the pump could be bolted in properly. With the longer
studs and the thick flange pump, it is almost (if not completely) impossible
to remove the pump without lifting the engine.

If you still have a thin flange pump and the short studs, you should be able
to remove the pump. If you have a mixture of parts (common), then it is a
crap shoot.Sidney Raper1964 1500 (still a project.... sigh....)1967 SRL311
