[Roadsters] 1970 1600 Blinking Sidemarker

In the interest of higher visibility ( viz the thread about brighter stop 
lights etc.) has anyone acheived blinking side markers.
Initially, I thought it would be simple to include the side markers with the 
directionals, yet it would appear that the side markers only accept a 
regular bulb.
Am I missing something, or is something needed to deliver intermittent power 
to the side lamps?
