There are rebuild kits for the fuel pump.  I think I  got mine  from Stan 
Chernoff, CDM or other vendors should have them.  As I recall the  pump will come 
off without removing anything major, but it is really tight  quarters.  If it 
is the pump diaphragm I don't think you have to remove the  unit from the 
block, just unscrew the top.
