Hi Mike,
You are correct about the "cool factor" of that little spring compressor.
Every time I walk into my bedroom, I'm surprised how "cool" that little door
stop is! Not a scratch on it, just a little dust.
Not being familiar with the 1600 head, I decided not to add my 2 x $0.01
before.

The Craftsman $20.00 c-clamp one is fine, even if it is a little more flimsy
than most the Craftsman tools I own. On a U20 head, I would have had to
remove the cam to even TRY to use the "compact" one. In my case, the cam did
not come out of the head, so I now have both types. (Thanks to my Dad, I
don't believe in returning tools I purchase, even if they're the wrong
one... I may need it SOMEDAY! HEHEHE) :-)

If I ever "realize" my adolescent dream of "THE DAT-STANG", a 1968 Roadster
with a 351 Windsor Ford V8 & Paxton Supercharger, I'll have just the right
tool to remove the valve springs. (sigh)

On the up side, since the c-clamp type is larger, you now have an excuse to
buy that big ol' rolling tool chest that you just haven't been able to
convince the wife that you actually NEED!!!!! You know the one... with the
5.1 Dolby surround sound stereo, LCD big screen TV, and refrigerator!!!

Drop the top, but use (Dat) sun screen! :-)
