Yup. I just used White Out on two knobs on my 411. The trick is getting the
excess off. I used Goof Off. Took several tries. Far from perfect, but
waaaaaay better than before.

FWIW, the "W" knob was easier than the "L". <g>

 I think White Out has been used for the letters. You can polish the knobs,
then apply and wipe off the excess.
