My initial suggestion is for you to use the Solid State VR that was 
fitted to the late model P[L]510s.
It is a body mounted IC but will probably fit inside the Roadster can 
used by the electromechanical version.

I've got one kicking around somewhere but you should be able to get one 
from a Auto Dismantler or maybe Nissan?
