[Roadsters] NIssan / what the Roadster did for their History

Picking up this discussion about convincing Nissan corporate to
recognize the 50th Anniversary of one of their more cherished models,
the 311.

I wonder if the dealership network might be a back-door way of
persuading them for support?

Most car dealers struggle to find a hook to get people into the
showroom so the sales people at least have a chance of peddling a new
car.

Why not some weekend "roadster" events, advertised and promoted by the
dealership, using cars among us volunteered to be placed on display?
The hook is the 50th anniversary of the 311, and any number of
approaches could be used at the individual, local dealership level as
part of a campaign.

The 311 is their bait to sell new cars. We get visibility.

This actually has been proven in the past. I approached a Nissan
dealership on Maryland's eastern shore, and asked whether they might
want a novel display of a 311 as a conversation starter for people
visiting the showroom. They went for it !!! I used the
fall-winter-spring time frame as perhaps dreary for driving, but hey,
look at this sharp little convertible. Adept, expert, highly-finessed
sales person then moves the customer toward whatever shiny new model
might be the subject of their visit.

Right now we've lost some of the seasonal timing, and people want to
drive their cars, not house them in a showroom for the winter. SO,
why not a weekend event with yours and a few other local roadsters, in
conjunction with a dealer campaign at the local level ?

There's potential there. And if enough instances take place across
the country, we could tally up the success, present it to Nissan
corporate, and get them to reconsider ...
