[Roadsters] Rear shock lower mount?

  Never wait 4 months to put something back together!

  The lower shock mount that bolts in place with the U-bolts that hold the
axle in place.  It is not a flat piece as shown in both of my manuals, but
dished with a lip running all the way around.  Question is, does the lip
face up or down?
  I took lots of photos when I took this apart back in April, but none that
show this piece clearly.

HELP!
