[Roadsters] distributor timing

It sounds to me like the distributor is not in the correct place.

 

Lots of popping when I drive it and of course lousy performance.

 

Early 67 roadster 1600

 

I am used to a distributor that you can turn quite a bit in either
direction; this one looks to me like it only turns a little bit after
loosening the philips screw.  What am I missing?
