Thanks to less Cannaday, I was finally able to purchase an OEM Toshiba Positive-Ground radio for my 64 SPL310. The ON/OFF switch doesn't work and the dial lights (tiny screw-in bulbs) are burned out. Any recommendations would certainly be appreciated. Respectfully, Charlie Hubbard Flower Mound, TX M: 214.507.5569 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I'm getting my car painted, and decided, what the heck, maybe I'll try to spruce it up on the inside, too, and fix stuff that's broken, like the radio. I found this guy in Liverpool, NY - Dave Froehlich. He's amazing. I asked him what the chances were of him being able to fix my old Toshiba AM radio, and he e-mailed me back the schematic for it! Off it goes in a box, along with the speaker and a money order for $65, and shortly thereafter I get an e-mail with his assessment. Then more e-mails, keeping me up-to-date on his progress, and even a *movie* to demonstrate the sound he's getting out of it! Here it is, back in my house within two weeks. I sent him a note with another twenty bucks to thank him for being such an attentive service man. I have never heard this radio in the car, and I'm excited to install it and pull that antenna up and go back in time, as it seems like AM tends toward oldies, as well as baseball and weather. What fun this will be. You would probably make this guy's day by sending him another Datsun radio - he appears to live for this stuff. http://www.tubesandtransistorsandmore.com/ Looking forward to spring, which might still come, I checked the website and it's still up, so I'm hoping this guy is still in business! Good luck. You will need the old 60/40 or better 63/37 solder to work on these radios. Do not try plumbing solder either. The "late style" electronic distributor is one from a Datsun 210, 310 or pickup in the 1978 to 1982 range. The roadster distributor shaft will fit into these distributors and only needs a small spacer and a longer screw to make it work. These distributors are available in junkyards for very reasonable prices. Conversion is relatively simple and mechanical advance limit mechanisms can be found with advances similar to the roadster. It is probably better to use a coil from one of the vehicles that the distributor comes from. The ignition module is mounted on the side of the distributor. The cap and rotor are a bit larger than the roadster one.? I?ve never needed to replace my GB EI cap, but I did recall B210, which this appears to partially confirm. - Bob Mann, ?68 2000 Solex > On Jun 8, 2022, at 07:35, Tom Phelan via Datsun-roadsters wrote: > > ? > Need to get a new dizzy cap. I don?t think there would be any interest in used Volvo parts though for a roadster application On another note though don?t be so quick to junk a 240. There is a resurgence in interest in the 140/164 /240 and 260 series. I personally am doing a 164E restoration. There would be demand for many of the parts. If yes, there is no torque spec. You basically tighten it down whilst spinning the hub until the hub stops, then back off a little so the hub spins and you can get the cotter pin in. Last weekend he was reinstalling the horn button on an early 67 roadster, which is metal. He had it in, then turned the car power on so he could test it. it worked but he complained it shocked him as well. I noticed that he was sitting sideways in the driver's seat with his legs outside of the car, but up against the bodywork. I had to explain to him how the horn worked . . . . -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
