What Pat said as well as the fact that the Phillips head screws are JIS on the Roadsters.

I don?t recall for sure but I thought the screws that held the top & bottom clam shell covers together on my 67.5 were Phillips. If you are talking about the screws that hold the ignition switch/lock to the column, at least some if them may be headless security screws that break off when tightened, requiring a Dremel to cut slots in them.

Anyone know what fastener types and sizes are used in the barrels underneath the ignition switch clam shell surround on a ?68 ?

I have tried Philips and standard screwdriver heads and neither seems to bite properly.

My neighbor just did that last weekend in his 9ft garage.  He copied the neighbor across the street. So yes, I can probably get you a ?lessons learned?  from that.  I do know that the first things that had to happen was to raise the height of the tracks on the garage door(s) so they it will not hit the car or get smashed when raising the car.  The other neighbor has his on wheels.  This may be exactly what you need to know.  Send me your contact information and I will email you pictures and whatever they can tell me.

I installed a MaxJax 2 post lift (https://www.maxjax.com)  <https://www.maxjax.com)%20>  in my 9? ceiling garage in 2019. I?ve been able to do work on my roadster that I could not even have attempted beforehand.  Not to mention the fact that my limber years are well behind me and I dreaded getting under the car to do various work.  Let me know if you have any questions about it.

I have used aa EZcarlift for over a decade.   I'm a big fan.   You can get different width adapters so that i can work on my MGA, TR3, and Nissan 350Z.   I prefer to lie on a creeper than to stand up,  looking up at a car to work on it,  when using a standard car lift.   This this is relatively portable and can be learned up against a wall out of the way

I installed a MaxJax 2 post lift (https://www.maxjax.com) <https://www.maxjax.com)%20>  in my 9? ceiling garage in 2019. I?ve been able to do work on my roadster that I could not even have attempted beforehand.  Not to mention the fact that my limber years are well behind me and I dreaded getting under the car to do various work.  Let me know if you have any questions about it.

My neighbor just did that last weekend in his 9ft garage.  He copied the neighbor across the street. So yes, I can probably get you a ?lessons learned?  from that.  I do know that the first things that had to happen was to raise the height of the tracks on the garage door(s) so they it will not hit the car or get smashed when raising the car.  The other neighbor has his on wheels.  This may be exactly what you need to know.  Send me your contact information and I will email you pictures and whatever they can tell me.

I put two Stinger (by Axe, built originally in McPherson, KS, now in
Council Grove, KS) four post lifts in my shop in '97, and they have steel
cross jacking plates that allow me to get all four wheels up if necessary,
but also allow safe storage of four cars in two spaces. I built the shop
with a 12' ceiling, and 10' doors in 8' openings, so the openers wouldn't
interfere with the cars when all the way up. With modern garage door
openers on the side rather than overhead, they would easily work with a 9'
ceiling. 28 years and hundreds of services/projects  later, still working
perfectly!

Can?t remember exactly what I used, but I did have to sculpt the foam pad to be the correct thickness. Several folks recommended material but there was no mention of thickness so when I got ready to install the body I found it was too thick. 

I?ll see if I can figure out what I ordered & post again. 

It needs to be closed cell material.

I asked McMaster-Carr if they could find my order & they did. The 3/8? thick version of what I used is #86095K54. 

I?d rather use something that is intended for industrial use than a yoga mat that I don?t have any idea of its characteristics.

I would recommend some conveyor belting. Check out the local industrial supplier for conveyor belts

I used Xcel Marine foam, 1/2" thick. Found it on Amazon, and one pack was enough to do two cars. There are details and photos on page 6 of my 311s.org build thread.

I had a Dannmar D-7 4 post lift.? Worked really well for my roadster.? I 
bought it to use primarily as a storage lift to keep 2 cars in a 1 car 
garage; when I built my house the garage placement made it expensive to 
make a bigger garage without major excavation.? Garage walls were 9'6" 
tall and I used scissor trusses to get even more headroom.

 From the conversation when I sold it:

Some more details: it is a Dannmar D-7. They don't make that model any more but they say it has been replaced by the D4-9, which is a 9000 pound rated lift. I am guessing this one is 7000 pounds.?It is 14' 3" long and 8'9" wide plus another foot or so for the hydraulic pump; posts are about 6-7 feet tall. Lift was designed to not need to be bolted down and has wheel assemblies you can use to roll it around
