More or less Mike Belfer's take as well.  Not that they don't work...they 
work great.  But they are complicated and usually one of the first things to 
break.  I believe that to be a majority opinion.

But having said that, I have difficulty explaining the success of long time 
Beady Eye member Don Brick, who raced a very mildly prepared TR4 for years and 
years.  It had an overdrive.  He made very effective use of it, and somehow he 
always kept it working.
