My wife's from Kansas, so here are her suggestions:
Restaurants: Plaza III (best steaks and fish, too. Very $$$),  
Hereford House (Harry Truman's favorite...steaks as the name  
implies), The Bristol in Leawood, italian food in Little Italy
To do: The Plaza (hopefully the holiday lights are up) is tribute to  
Seville, Spain, Hall's Dept Store (a hobby of the "Hallmark" Family),  
Jazz (many places), Riverboat gambling.
Nebraska is playing #8 (!) KU saturday so Lawrence (40 minutes away) 
will be a BIG PARTY!
