A fellow SCCA corner worker once told me that he was racing MGs in the 
50s when the track first opened. He claims that the track was designed 
to be run clockwise, but the TDs couldn't get up the corkscrew ... so 
they reversed the sense of the track.

I've never tried to verify this, but it's a great story!
