Absolutely run the Redline!
 
I broke GT6 gearboxes repeatedly until I gave up and used a close ratio TR  
box.  The tech guys accepted it because it was Triumph, used at LeMans and  
added 45 pounds to the car.
 
If you have a racing clutch it will exacerbate the  problem.
