[Fot] Herald alloy bellhousing

Joe, I'll trade you for a nice condition GT6 Mk 3 body shell for the
engine/car/interior :-)

I've been using an aluminum bellhousing on my Spit racer for years now
and have had no problem with it (but we're not really testing it with
any, you know, power, either). I think I paid about $100 for it.

I don't know, however, which version it is (thinner v. thicker). What
are the differences between the two versions?

Scott B.

I have one that I will let go for $15,000.00. And I will throw in a
full
race fuel injected 1296 engine, Full synchro 3-Rail OD gearbox and a
beautiful Mk1 Spitfire body complete with interior and soft top.

I did a bunch of research on this about a year ago. The thinner one is
off
a Herald and from what I was told, is probably not a candidate for a
race
car. Street car, sure. I have one and would be willing to part with
it.

The thicker bellhousing is off of an early (very early) Spitfire. They
are
very difficult to find. I located one last year and had to give $175
for
it.

New ones are available out of England for around $500. Spitbits
sometimes
has them in stock.

Is the use of a Herald bellhousing in a Spit a worthwhile
idea? If so, what is a fair price for one?
