As Tom mentioned I have been helping get Triumphs on track for a couple of years now by working with Jason Ostrowski’s Friendly Ghost Racing.  Jason and I race together here in the Midwest with Midwestern Council and VSCDA.  I have raced a variety of vehicles over the years but currently own a 67 Barracuda fastback that I built and race in Group 6 and also race a 65 Cheetah Roadster (for those at Road America a few weeks ago I was the blue roadster #6 paddocked just down the way from the FOT camp).  I trailered Jason’s yellow GT6 to the Mitty last year at Road Atlanta and proudly served at crew chief for FGR that weekend.  That was my first experience with FOT and I had a blast.  We shared my canopy with the Alexander clan and had a great time hanging out with them that weekend (I wrote an article about the experience for our club newsletter: http://www.nsscc.org/files/rod_knock/RK2012Jun.pdf)   I have always been a guy that will try to do whatever I can to help a fellow racer get to the track or get back on track if they have an issue.  Whether it be parts or an extra set of hands, I have been the guy in need too many times to not offer help to another racer when the tables are turned.  FOT more so than any other group of racers that I have been around perpetuates this same spirit and that was what drew me in.

As far as Triumphs go, in addition to designing and fabricating some parts for Jason’s yellow GT6, I helped get John Reed’s green GT6 back on track earlier this year after Jason bought it .  Unfortunately I also had to load it into my trailer after the second broken suspension episode of the weekend converted it to a three wheeler at Road America.  I will also be helping Jason and his dad with their Ambro project in the near future.  Finally, though I didn’t know his name until afterwards nor he mine, I was happy to be able to lead Peter on a very entertaining scavenger hunt through Sheboygan County, WI looking for the parts that got his TR8 back on track the next day at the ELVF.  It was great to watch him and Chris to impressively flog that awesome car around the track.  Though I need another race car like I need another hole in my head, my experience with Friendly Ghost Racing and Friends of Triumph has really made me want a Triumph project.  We have a bare GT6 chassis that I hope to find a Vitesse body for (I know – good luck with that).  I saw the Carl Swanson car at Road America a few years ago and fell in love with it.  We have a lot of uppity Alpha and Datsun guys here in the Midwest – I would love nothing more than to beat up on them in 2.5 Trans Am / B Sedan competition in a Triumph.  In the meantime, I look forward to helping Jason with the prep and development of his vehicles and know that my inclusion on this list will help to that end.  I feel privileged to be a part of FOT and look forward to meeting more of you at and on the track in the future.  Thank you again.
